Dear Sir:

I am writing to express my appreciation for the great improvements the Equi=Tech Model Q (1.5) has made in my audio system since I installed it about eighteen months ago.  It dramatically lowered the noise floor of my system and audibly improved the signal to noise ratio of every component I plugged into it.  As a result, my system sounds much more clear and dynamic -- pure gold to a long-time audiophile such as myself.  I listen primarily to classical music and on a daily basis the Model Q allows me to hear melodic and instrumental details, and instrumental timbre, that I cannot hear when it is not in my system.  An additional bonus is that these details are audible at low volumes, which allows me to enjoy my system late into the evening without bothering others in my household.

I should note that I do not have "bad" power.  I live in a suburban town where the power isn't subject to the distortions present in urban or commercial environments.  Even so, air conditioners, refrigerators, fluorescent lights, light dimmers, PC's, switching power supplies and other sources of EMI and RFI are everywhere and in my experience they all add audible noise to the music.  The Model Q does an excellent job insulating my system from these and other sources of noise while still providing the power reserves needed to drive substantial tube amps and big speakers (e.g., a 100 watt McIntosh 2102 tube amp driving classic Bozak Concert Grand speakers).

I have used the Model Q in conjunction with a wide variety of high end electronics including:  phono preamps by E.A.R., Pass Labs and Aesthetix; digital front ends by Wavelength Audio (Cosecant USB DAC), Benchmark (DAC 1 USB) and Sony (CD/SACD); line pre-amplification by Audio Research and Aesthetix; and amplification by Audio Research, Pass, McIntosh (tube), Cary and Verdier (300B triode).  I have also used the Model Q with classic audio components including a Fisher 500B receiver and McIntosh 225 and Quad II amplifiers.  I have used the Model Q with a dedicated 15 amp power circuit and with shared circuits.  In all cases the Model Q performed flawlessly and completely maintenance free -- something I can't say about very many high end components.

Over the past 10 years I have purchased and regularly used a number of different audiophile quality power products, including power re-generators. While several of them improved the sound of my system, some did not.  I also experienced equipment compatibility problems (in one case, the destruction of two expensive rectifier tubes before a fuse blew), transformer noise and annoying fan noise that interfered with my enjoyment of music.  Based upon my experience, no other product offers the combination of high performance, ease of use and silent operation that the Model Q does.

I would recommend the Model Q to any audiophile who wants to get the power component of his system done right -- once -- and then not have to worry about it ever again.

Very truly yours,
