IT HAPPENED AGAIN!! We purchased a lot of Q-type transformers that failed to meet our stringent acoustical noise specifications. They hum too loudly for us. They are perfectly balanced in every way and meet every other Q transformer specification but they are just too loud to put in a box for your living room or studio... sometimes. This doesn't mean every one will produce noise, but we won't guarantee that it will be perfectly quiet. However, electrically they are every bit as good as the regular Q transformers are for driving big amplifiers and improving dynamic range. They are excellent performers. But we can't sell them as a Model Q component in a Model Q chassis. This is only the second time this has happened in the history of the company. So our loss is your gain. Place these transformers (steel box included) in an attic or next to your circuit breaker box in the garage (etc.) and run the circuit into your listening room and you will receive all the benefits of a finely tuned Q transformer, but without the Model Q chassis.
